The Role:
The Desktop Support Trainee supports the delivery of desktop and end-user technology services while
undertaking a structured traineeship program.
The role provides practical experience across IT support, customer service, asset management and technology
administration. The trainee develops knowledge, skills and capabilities through a combination of workplace
learning, formal training and on-the-job coaching.
Key Accountabilities
IT Support and Customer Service
- Assist with responding to IT support requests and service enquiries.
- Learn and apply IT support procedures, systems and processes.
- Provide first-level assistance to staff under supervision.
- Escalate technical issues to appropriate team members when required.
- Contribute to positive user experiences through responsive and professional support.
Desktop and Technology Support
- Assist with the setup, deployment and maintenance of desktops, laptops and other end-user devices.
- Support the installation and configuration of software and equipment.
- Learn how desktop operating systems, applications and business systems are supported.
- Assist with routine system checks, updates and maintenance activities.
Asset Management and Administration
- Assist with maintaining equipment and asset records.
- Support technology procurement and asset lifecycle activities.
- Assist with inventory checks and reporting activities.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with procedures.
Learning and Development
- Complete all requirements of the traineeship qualification.
- Participate in coaching, training and development activities.
- Apply learning from formal training in the workplace.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and personal development.
Selection Criteria:
- Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander - Confirmation of Aboriginality or a stat dec is required.
- Genuine interest in technology
- Pass a police check
- Basic computer skills
- Completed year 12 or equivalent
